Gemini® Twin Shaking Waterbath
Dual Low Profile Chambers with Independent Temperature Control
Unique, Low Profile for Convenient Access
Unlike conventional waterbaths, the Gemini Twin Shaking Waterbath [Cat. #1051-20-1 (115V), 1051-20-2 (220V)] is composed of two low profile independently heated chambers. Removable adaptors designed for specific containers are placed in the chambers to hold vessels firmly in place during agitation. With a chamber depth of only two inches, the Gemini waterbath allows the operator unimpeded access to containers with hand-held pipettors and other devices.
Two Independent, Precision Controlled Heated Chambers
The Gemini waterbath is composed of two identical, 13.3" x 2.3" x 9.5" chambers mounted on a single platform. The temperature of each chamber is independently regulated with a dedicated digital controller. The desired temperature (ambient +5°C to 99°C) is selected on the digital display with actual temperature continuously displayed during operation. An integral countdown timer makes an audible signal useful for timed incubations. Precise temperature regulation of ± 0.2°C is achieved through a finely designed system of controller, quick response, low mass resistance heaters and a sensitive temperature probe.
Gentle to Vigorous Agitation
Ideal for a range of applications that require varying degrees of agitation, the versatile Gemini waterbath can be regulated from gentle movement for blot processing to vigorous agitation needed for tissue digestions. The two chambers are mounted on a single platform which moves smoothly in a front to back motion variable from 10 to 160 strokes per minute.
Clear Acrylic Cover for Visual Monitoring of Samples
Ever find yourself "checking" waterbath samples by removing the cover and disturbing the temperature? The Gemini waterbath is designed with a lightweight, clear acrylic cover that allows samples to be visually monitored during incubations. Plus, the unique, "inverted V" shape delivers condensate to the sides of the chamber away from samples, preventing inadvertent sample contamination.
Removable Chamber Adaptors for Dot Blots, Microplates and Membrane Strip Trays
One of the design features of the Gemini waterbath is the use of removable stainless steel adaptors designed for specific types of plates, trays, etc. The adaptor holds the vessel stationary in the chamber eliminating clumsy weights normally used with conventional waterbaths. A range of adaptors are available:
- Adaptor for one (1) Perkin-Elmer AmpliType™ DNA typing tray, 8 well format. [Cat. #1051-30-0]
- Adaptor for two (2) Perkin-Elmer QuantiBlot™ hybridization trays. [Cat. #1051-31-0]
- Adaptor for one (1) Roche Molecular Systems AMPLICOR™ typing tray, 20 well format. [Cat. #1051-32-0]
- Adaptor for two (2) Life Technologies Inc. Hybriboat™ containers. [Cat. #1051-33-0]
- Adaptor for three (3) Innogenetics INNO-LiPA™ 8 trough/trays. [Cat. #1051-34-0]
- Adaptor for four (4) Innogenetics INNO-LiPA 12 trough/trays. [Cat. #1051-35-0]
- Adaptor for two (2) Tupperware™ containers with covers. [Cat. #1051-36-0]
- Adaptor for four (4) standard microplates. [Cat. #1051-37-0]
- Adaptor for one (1) Roche Diagnostics 24-well tray with lid. [Cat. #1051-38-0]
Remarkably Fast Heat-up and Temperature Recovery
Each chamber of the Gemini waterbath is heated with a 350 watt, resistance heater to provide exceedingly rapid and uniform heating. Operating temperature can be attained in under 25 minutes from room temperature, far less than conventional waterbaths. Temperature recovery time when changing reagents is also dramatically reduced. After removing the cover for 3 minutes, as little as 20 seconds is required to re-establish set temperature.
Small, Lightweight and Easy to Clean
The Gemini waterbath was designed for the normally crowded laboratory with limited bench space. With a footprint of only 13x20 inches and weighing less than 32 lbs., it is easily transportable and takes up a fraction of the space of a conventional waterbath. The chambers are also designed for easy cleaning. By simply unscrewing four thumbscrews and disconnecting the sensor, the operator can easily remove each chamber to a sink for cleaning.
