SciGene Acquires Robbins Scientific Product Lines & Begins Operations

SciGene Acquires Robbins Scientific Product LinesJanuary 6, 2004, Sunnyvale, CA — Robbins Scientific, a wholly owned subsidiary of Matrix Technologies (Hudson, NH) announced today the sale of several of its laboratory research product lines to SciGene Corporation (www.scigene.com) of Sunnyvale, CA. Terms were not disclosed. Included in the sale to SciGene are Robbins brand hybridization incubators, FlexChem Synthesis Systems and Gemini Waterbaths. With the purchase, SciGene will now manufacture, sell and support these products to research laboratories worldwide from its new facility in Sunnyvale, CA.

Jim Stanchfield, Ph.D., is President and founder of SciGene and headed sales and marketing at Robbins Scientific from 1991 to 2000. After signing the agreement, Stanchfield stated “We are pleased to have the opportunity to continue to serve the many loyal customers that have done business with Robbins Scientific over the years. SciGene’s mission is to continue the Robbins tradition of developing innovative, quality products and providing the highest level of personal customer service.” Gary Nelson, President of Robbins Scientific and Matrix Technologies said, “I am very pleased that we were able to find a company as dedicated to the products and customers as SciGene.”
