Fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH)

Fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH)

Overview

The manual protocol recommended by Vysis for Day 2 / post-hybridization processing of FISH slides incorporates a tricky 73°C wash that must be maintained for a specific time to ensure that optimum signal levels are achieved. It is a cumbersome procedure typically using Coplin jars in a waterbath with a thermometer inserted and with a limit of processing just a few slides per batch so that the target temperature is maintained.

The Little Dipper® Processor overcomes the complexity and limitations of the manual methods used for Day 2 / post-hybridization processing of FISH probes from Vysis or other suppliers.

Technology

The Little Dipper® Processor automates Day 2, post-hybridization processing of up to 24 FISH slides per batch. It provides true walk away automation of all wash steps and precisely controls critical buffer temperatures following optimized protocols for Vysis and other probes.

The system generates slides with lower backgrounds and brighter signals for more confident, clearer interpretations. The system eliminates messy Coplin jars, waterbaths and staining dishes and frees up valuable technician time. The Little Dipper® Processor can also be used for Day 1, pre-hybridization processing of FISH slides.
